How I came to believe in God
I was born in a small military-base town, in a typical family engaged in military service. In my family nobody ever spoke about God being a real being and personality and even less about the fact that He died for me. All I had was a children’s illustrated Bible, the story of Noah’s Ark told by my father, and the Lord’s prayer that I had to learn by heart - simply because everyone had to know it – so that we could speak it out if something bad happened. We didn’t pray this prayer often.
In 1999, when I was almost nine years old, there came an opportunity at my school to go to a health retreat place in the republic of Moldova. No one could imagine at that point that the place wasn’t a pioneer camp but a Christian camp. For several years I went there for vacation; the Bible lessons were for me a waste of time and the most unbearable activity in the otherwise fun camp.
