In other words, men are not born, they are “made”.
These and other matters are in the minds of every modern man. This is why several years ago we started a ministry among men.
As part of this project, in 2008 we organized a cycling tour named “Fathers-sons”. Ten fathers and ten sons took part in it. The purpose of the tour was uniting fathers and their sons though common work and close fellowship. About 100 kilometers were covered in three days, and during the ride the participants provided help to the elderly people who lived within the area of the tour. February 21, 2009. Subject: Crises in man’s life.
The term most often heard in conversations today is “crisis”. Everyone can relate to it. Especially men, as they are the providers in their families. In today’s world, it is no simple task. Yet, financial crisis is not the only difficulty that we have to face as men – there is also crisis that comes after a number of years, family crisis and spiritual crisis. And we find ourselves dealing with several crises at the same time. How it is possible to take the blow during such a time and how it can be resisted, who can be asked for help, - these are the questions that will be spoken about in this meeting.
April 4, 2009. Subject: How significant are a man’s convictions?
In the beginning of April another men’s meeting took place. This time our location was in “Vipra House” in Stary Ayrodrom area. After 1,5 hours of session and discussion the
men headed to the gymnasium, where the meeting took on a different form. The football match was followed by a relaxing time in the sauna. This way, the meeting contributed to both spiritual and physical health.
November 28, 2009. Subject: “The Three O”
As part of men’s ministry in the Gomel church, men met for a seminar for the third time in the year 2009. The seminar named “The Three O” was attended by about 30 men. One of the main reasons of many problems found in today’s society is the degraded role of the man in the family and the absence of effective fatherhood. Thus, the subjects addressed during the three hours of the meeting were:
Responsibility - three levels of responsibility of the man in a family
Fatherhood - three steps to effective fatherhood
Excuses - three areas in which men most often tend to look for excuses
(All three terms starts with "O" letter in Russian language. That bring seminar title “The Three O”).
In the breaks between the three sessions, while having tea, the men exchanged opinions and talked about the relevance of the problem matters that were raised. After the seminar, in the evening, the group met again in a sports hall that was rented for the night, and then enjoyed the sauna.
